The VX-Xpress Marketplace is a website designed to make deployment and management of Silver Peak virtual WAN optimization appliances quick and easy. It includes common use cases for the Silver Peak products, a download section to obtain product keys and software images, installation videos, and an online forum for interaction with Silver Peak experts and other Silver Peak WAN optimization users.

A Silver Peak virtual appliance is a software instance of Silver Peak's Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA), which makes deploying WAN optimization more convenient and cost-effective than ever. The software runs on any common hypervisor, such as VMware vSphere, Citrix XEN and Microsoft Hyper-V, and can be deployed on any third party device, including servers, routers, blades, and storage arrays.

Silver Peak's VX family ranges from the VX-1000, which supports 4 Mbps of WAN capacity, to the VX-5000, which supports 50Mbps. These appliances are perfect for remote and branch offices, as well as smaller data centers.

The Silver Peak VRX is designed specifically for data center environments. It is the industry's highest performing WAN optimization virtual appliance, ranging from 50Mbps to 1Gbps of WAN capacity.

All of the above virtual appliances come with full maintenance, can be deployed in unlimited quantities, and can be managed by Silver Peak’s Global Management System (GMS). Software and license keys for all VX/VRX products can be downloaded here for a 30 day free trial

The VX-X is a free, fully functional entry level virtual appliance. It is an extremely easy and cost effective way to get started with WAN optimization, and/or a perfect solution for small two-node WAN optimization deployments. The VX-X comes with online support only and cannot be managed by GMS. A maximum of two VX-X’s can be deployed per network. The VX-X can be downloaded here

Silver Peak delivers the industry's highest performance across the broadest range of applications. However, it is difficult to predict the exact gains for any specific environment as that varies heavily depending on the types of applications being optimized, the type of data, and the type of network. We encourage you to look at the Cool Deployments Forum to see specific gains being experienced by other Silver Peak users.

Silver Peak offers the widest range of hypervisor support and the highest-capacity virtual appliances available on the market today. Look at the Downloads section for the latest hypervisor matrix.

The VX/VRX appliances are available for a 30 day trial, which starts the day the licenses are downloaded. They cannot be renewed after 30 days. If you require ongoing support and maintenance, the product must be purchased through an authorized Silver Peak partner.

The VX-X has no trial period; The appliance can be used indefinitely.

If requesting a VX/VRX trial via the marketplace, you will receive a pair of virtual appliance of the same model. If you wish to trial more than two VX/VRX virtual appliances or would like to mix/match models, please contact your Silver Peak partner or contact us directly at sales@silver-peak.com.

Only two VX-Xs can be deployed in a given network.

Usually a GMS is not required for trials. However, it is possible to get access to a GMS as part of your trial by contacting your Silver Peak partner or sending an email to sales@silver-peak.com

No. All Silver Peak appliances run the same VXOA software – from the VX-X to the VRX. This enables common features and installation/management procedures.

As the capacity of the virtual appliance increases, however, the hardware requirements also increase. This can create a substantial difference between appliances. See the host system requirements document for details.

Please look at the Host System Requirements (HSR) document in the getting Started Section of the VX-Xpress Marketplace.

There is no harm in putting a larger appliance than required on your network. However, as the virtual appliances increase in size, so do the hardware requirements. So from an efficiency perspective, it makes more sense if you use a model that fits your WAN bandwidth requirements. The HSR document will help you chose the right appliance.

The VX/VRX trials come with 30 days of full Silver peak support. In addition to all the online resources present on the VX-Xpress marketplace, you may contact Silver Peak technical experts via email, web and phone.

The VX-X only comes with online support. Technical questions can be posted to the VX-Xpress Forum, where you can engage with Silver Peak experts and other virtual WAN optimization users.
